Everyone loves to dress up in Halloween Costumes.  It is the one time of year you can release your alter ego while pretending to be just acting the part of the character you are playing.  The best Halloween costumes are often , but for the more determined souls, a Halloween store is your best choice.

Halloween is not just for kids.  The door to door trick or treating part is best left to the little tikes unless you want to get arrested. Halloween parties though are for the adults and some folks really go all out.  Bars and nightclubs look for any excuse to draw in the patrons and can put on a great party.  Some individuals will go to great lengths and put on a great house party  but unless you have a large crowd, the party could fall short.

In any event, you can’t show up with a homemade “hobo” costume like you wore when you were 12 unless you want to be thrown out on the street.  Unless you are really creative, you better visit a Halloween Costume Store to get your outfit for the party.

Kids love to dress-up in costumes or other articles of clothing that aren’t their own.   Instead of putting away the Halloween costumes each year, leave them out in a play chest  to be used year round.

Whether you have lots of Halloween costumes or old clothes that you don’t wear  anymore instead of getting rid of them let your kids have them.  You will be amazed and  pleasantly surprised at the imaginative play that will result from playing dress-up.   Encourage them to get dressed-up and to put on a play in their costumes.  Invite the  neighborhood kids over to participate or just watch the show.

Props are great too, let the kids go around the house (with the rule that it will all be put  away) to collect things they need for a play.  A curtain and stage aren’t necessary, but if  you can find a way to improvise for either it will add to the excitement and sense of pride  the children will have for their production.
